Selecting Music For Your School Disco

Experience the staff and parent helpers having as much fun as the children.

The music chosen for your school disco is an important part of the planning process.

The children will hear many songs that they are familiar with, often hearing songs their parents play in the car or on the radio. Music is commonly chosen from hits of the 90's through to the current hits of today.

I welcome your input into the music selection, and you can certainly make a list of songs you do not want played at your disco. Then, even if requested by students, I ensure these songs are not played on the night.

When selecting songs, each is given careful consideration to ensure songs containing swearing, sexual innuendo or self-harm are removed from the play list.

I am often asked to play songs which have recently been worked on as classroom activities. The students always respond well to something they already know the dance moves to.

Another popular part of the music selection process is to let the students have some input into the song selection. However, they often listen to inappropriate music at home without parents being aware of the lyrics/innuendos within the song—this is where we need to take control. If we have any doubt, the song is not played.

Cultural music—no problem!

I am able to provide school discos for any cultural background. I'm happy to play any music you need to make your disco the highlight of your school calendar. You can supply me 100% of the music you want played if that is what you want. I aim to make this an easy and stress-free process.

All music supplied on CD by schools must be delivered to me at least one week prior to the disco. This allows time to ensure that all CDs play correctly on my equipment, and make alternative arrangements in the event that it does not.

It is also assumed by Top-Notch Entertainment that all schools have legally purchased their music (i.e. they are the legal owners of the CD)
